On July 21, Austin psych-voyagers The Black Angels will be releasing Clear Lake Forest, their seven-track EP originally put out on limited edition 10" for Record Store Day and now getting an expanded distribution from Blue Horizon on vinyl, CD and download.
The record follows their last album, last year’s Indigo Meadow, around which we talked to the band. Says Christian Bland: "After roaming through the Indigo Meadow, the time has come to journey to the Clear Lake Forest, where seven tales of diamonds, executioners and other strange occurrences await underneath the crystal waves lapping in the lake." They’ve kind given us a first play of opener ‘Sunday Evening’, which trips between louche meandering and endpoint speculation and their trademark fuzz-rinsed jangle, complete with some nicely obnoxious two-note riffing – take a listen above, and head to the band’s website to pre-order.
