Thalia Zedek has just premiered her new single ‘Fell So Hard’, taken from the cult singer’s new mini-album SIX, out on February 24 by Thrill Jockey – have a listen above.
Zedek has been making music, both solo and as part of different bands that rose and fell, since 1980. ‘Fell So Hard’ has Zedek lamenting the trials and tribulations of romance, her raw, lethargic voice, reminiscent of Patti Smith, sat atop a steady, instrumental drone roar, breaking from stroppy blues into squalling guitars. The sounds of Zedek’s 80s New York contemporaries Swans and Sonic Youth are echoed, but it’s her voice that makes this song distinctive.
Get hold of SIX via Thrill Jockey and catch Zedek at The Garage in London on March 12 (tickets here).
