Terre Thaemlitz Releases Bandcamp Compilation

Terre Thaemlitz, otherwise known as DJ Sprinkles, shares a 76-track compilation of partially previously unreleased work via Bandcamp

Having previously withheld much of her work from online streaming and digital downloads, Terre Thaemlitz – otherwise known as DJ Sprinkles – surprised many at the start of the year with the unveiling of a Bandcamp page for his label Comatonse featuring a handful of past releases.

Over the weekend, she has shared a new digital-only compilation via the page called Comp x Comp. It’s made up of 76 "electroacoustic and ambient tracks", some of which are previously unreleased. Writing in the description for the compilation, Thaemlitz explains that the 10 previously unreleased short pieces featured were originally intended for release via the Mille Plateaux label as part of an anniversary compilation which was apparently "cancelled during the 2003 bankruptcy."

She continues: "’Mille Glaces.001-009′ are recordings of my computer crashing as it attempts to play the same files in realtime (a Power Macintosh 7100 with Sound Designer II card)."

Included in addition to the previously unreleased pieces are a number of tracks which were previously only available as part of other compilations, as well as an ambient version of 2009 track ‘Music Is Controllable Desire You Can Own’.
