Technics Details SL-1200 MK7 Turntable

Technics describes its new product as "the first new standard DJ turntable in approximately nine years"

Technics has unveiled a new DJ-focused turntable, which the company describes as "the first new standard DJ turntable in approximately nine years."

Available in an all-black model, the SL-1200 MK7 takes a number of features from previous models but has added reverse playback capability as well as a coreless direct drive motor. The company says that the new turntable also comes with "other sound-enhancing technologies," a next step from recent newer models which have focused on the audiophile market.

The company says that the new turntable also includes improved vibration damping to help avoid playback trouble for DJs in clubs.

Technics’ parent company Panasonic put the SL-1200 back into production in 2016 after it was discontinued for a number of years. They had focused on the more high-end, audiophile market, but this new product – which will be on sale at a retail price of around €1000 – sees them shift their focus back to DJs. They will be available to buy from May of this year.
