Occult-obsessed four-piece Taman Shud will release their debut album, Viper Smoke, via Trashmouth Records, on Monday, February 2, finally following up a split EP release with Fat White Family back in December of 2013. Ahead of the album’s unleashing, tQ is very excited to offer an exclusive stream, in full, below. Of the album’s ten tracks, only two were previously available via that aforementioned EP release alongside Fat Whites.
The band cite a range of cryptic influences on their driving, punchy rock, including, no less, Egyptology, paraphilia, The Singularity and, much more simplistically, the tedium of all working in the same nine-to-five office job. As drummer/vocalist Nick put it to Ben Graham in a tQ interview last year, "it’s about coping with the professional world. It’s the space outside of capitalism where all sorts of magical, imaginative possibilities become live again." You can read the rest of that interview here and get all the details you need on the album’s launch at Dalston’s Power Lunches on February 5 here.
