Swans have today released a new live album, Not Here/Not Now, which you can order via the Young God Records label’s website.
It’s a double-disc set comprising, as Consequence Of Sound report, recordings made at shows they played on the tour in support of The Seer, our favourite album of last year, in Barcelona and Melbourne. It’s a strictly limited affair, with the linoleum block print cover art from Nicole Boitos hand-numbered and drawn on by Swans’ main man Michael Gira, running at only 2,000 copies.
Given that the album is also being released to fund their next album, currently slated for release early next year, you can buy it at a number of price points. Those willing to part with $500 will get something like this: "m.gira will record and send to customer a video of a simple, short, original song, acoustic guitar and voice, with customers’ name in the song, praising the customer, his or her ancestors, thoughts, dreams, and future or past lives, forever . This video will be made by m.gira, sitting at his desk, at home, singing directly to you, and you only."
