Brooklyn band Survival are set to release their self-titled debut album – their first under this moniker, having previously released material as Birthday Boyz – on May 14 via Thrill Jockey.
Recorded at The Thousand Caves, the NYC recording studio of producer Colin Marston (also known for performing in experimental metal projects such as Krallice and Dysrhythmia), Survival is a heavy rock record that promises "syncopated riffs, intricate rhythms and atypical time signatures".
In contrast, softer cut ‘Since Sun’ emerges in the middle of the album with elegant acoustic guitars and collective vocal harmonies that mesh beautifully in their plaintive chanting of "we sing forever in one" – have a listen below:
