Surgeon is set to team up with Ali Wade for what is being described as an "immersive audiovisual experiment featuring electronic music and digital imagery" at the Southbank Centre on May 28.
Wade is a photographer, videographer and long-time collaborator of Surgeon’s. Together they will present an improvised performance "in which sound influences vision and vice versa". The set will be accompanied by psychedelic footage, custom-made by Wade and will also see the public debut of Surgeon’s seldom-seen Buchla Music Easel synthesiser. The night will also feature a pairing between former Huggy Bear member Jo Johnson and Plant43, an electro producer with past releases on labels such as Semantica and Frustrated Funk. Also a designer and illustrator, Plant43 will provide a visual aid to Johnson’s music. The event is being organised by the Bleep43 collective. There will be further shows following the Southbank event, at the Cube cinema in Bristol on June 4 and Glasgow’s Art School on July 1; head here for full details.
