Made Do & Mend: Support Finders Keepers

Crate-digging label releases a series of compilations to raise money, after losing stock in PIAS warehouse fire

Andy Votel’s ever-excellent Finders Keepers label have just released the first in a new series of label compilations designed to help raise money, after the loss of the majority of their stock in last week’s PIAS warehouse fire. Entitled Make Do And Mend, the series will consist of 10 limited edition CD and MP3 compilations curated by fans and associates of the label, including Jarvis Cocker, Demdike Stare, David Holmes and Gruff Rhys, and will include exclusive, previously unreleased tracks.

In the label’s own words: "In response to the Finders Keepers/Twisted Nerve/Bird/Battered Ornaments stock loss in the PIAS warehouse fires caused by rioting on August 8th a few of our close label mates have come together to compile some of their favourite moments from the Finders Keepers family discography. … [The series of 10 compilations is] now ready to order directly from the website and like minded retailers in a bid to ease us back onto our feet releasing phantastic obscure and obselete music as soon as possible."

The first volume, curated by none other than Pulp frontman and all round good egg Jarvis Cocker, is available now from the label’s site.

You can get involved in a number of ways. Each individual volume will be available for £5 physically and £4.45 digitally from the Finders Keepers website, or you can subscribe to the entire series for £40.

We’re big fans of Finders Keepers at the Quietus, and we’d urge you to help if you can spare the cash. In last week’s list of 20 recommended PIAS records, we also suggested spending some time with the stunning Pomegranates: Persian Pop, Funk & Psych Of The 60s & 70s compilation.
