Supersonic is back! The perennially ace experimental music festival in Birmingham has just announced its 2015 edition. Heading the line-up is The Pop Group and new Quietus favourite, Newcastle bard Richard Dawson, both performing himself and curating an afternoon – read John Doran’s interview with him here. There’s also Six Organs Of Admittance, touring their new Hexadic material, Liturgy, Flamingods, Liima, the excellent-sounding new collaboration between Efterklang and Finnish improvisational percussionist Tatu Rönkkö, Happy Meals, Tomaga, Slow Magic and Wildbirds & Peacedrums for now. The first event, meanwhile, will be the Will Gregory Moog Ensemble at Birmingham Town Hall, which will see the Goldfrapp man joining other musicians, including Adrian Utley of Portishead, to perform new music and works by Bach, John Carpenter, Burt Bacharach and Oliver Messiaen.
The festival is relocating this year to The Crossing and Boxxed and taking place from June 11-14. Tickets are available here and, through a Kickstarter campaign, there’s a raft of extra treats for those buying tickets in advance.
