The first acts have been announced for this year’s Supersonic Festival in Birmingham, with Gazelle Twin confirmed to play new material.
The festival will host the UK premiere of Gazelle Twin’s as-yet unannounced new album, with Elizabeth Bernholz making her return to the festival after a standout set in 2015.
Also confirmed for this year’s festival are The Ex who will play this year’s Kids Gig, following on from Melt Banana last year. They will also perform as part of the main festival programme.
Dennis McNett will present his first major UK project as the festival’s artist in residence. Hailing from New York, he takes influence from the imagery of early ’80s skateboard and punk rock music scenes, and "will create a large-scale procession piece, where the art will become performance as the event unfolds".
Swiss, Bosnian-born accordion player Mario Batkovic will also play at the festival, while Yves Tumor, Fako, Housewives, Andrea Belfi, Vanishing Twin, Wolves In The Throne Room and Daniel Higgs are all also lined up to perform.
This year’s Supersonic takes place in Digbeth in Birmingham from June 22-24. More acts will be confirmed in the coming months. For more information, and to get tickets, head here.
