Sunn O))) will handle the next release in Sub Pop’s Singles Club series.
Part of the eighth volume of Singles Club, it takes in two new pieces of music by the group: ‘Evil Chuck’ and ‘Ron G Warrior’. Both were fleshed out and recorded during sound checks for the US run of their Shoshin (初心) Duo tour in late 2022 and early 2023. The material, a press release says, was later refined, arranged and edited in a studio.
The record will first be released digitally later this month ahead of the 7-inch vinyl record being made available to Singles Club subscribers soon after. The vinyl record can be pre-ordered here.
In a statement, Sunn O))) said: "In Sunn O)))’s 25th year, this is an extraordinary ‘full-circle’ moment for us. We grew up in north Seattle, began our musical collaboration in Seattle in the early ’90s and were raised on the Sub Pop singles series those days. The series had an incredible history, with many of our favourite bands participating."
Sub Pop will release Evil Chuck / Ron G Warrior on October 25, 2023.
