Sunn O)))’s Greg Anderson Unveils First Album As The Lord

'Forest Nocturne' is out on Southern Lord later this month

Sunn O)))’s Greg Anderson has shared details of his debut album under the moniker The Lord.

Spanning eight tracks, the album – titled Forest Nocturne – will be released through Southern Lord. On the record, Anderson takes cues from legendary film soundtrack composers, such as John Carpenter and Bernard Hermann, as well as early ’90s Scandinavian death metal. Attila Csihar (of notorious Norwegian black metal band Mayhem) appears on the album’s closing cut ‘Triumph Of The Oak’, which you can listen to above.

Following the release of Forest Nocturne, Anderson plans to release a second album as The Lord, with collaborator Petra Haden on vocals and violin. The two first worked together during Anderson’s time in Goatsnake.

Southern Lord will release Forest Nocturne on April 23, 2022.
