Suede share The 400 Blows-inspired video for single 'Wastelands'

Suede have shared a new video for their latest single, ‘Wastelands’. The track is the second single from their latest album, The Blue Hour.

The video, produced by Mike Christie (who has directed the upcoming Sky Arts documentary Suede: The Insatiable Ones), transports the final sequence from Truffaut’s The 400 Blows to suburban Britain. It features the 17-year-old parkour athlete Robbie Griffith, from the viral ’Choose Parkour’ video, and can be viewed above.

Speaking about the video, Christie said: "When we were talking through ideas, the band brilliantly recalled the finale of the movie The 400 Blows as a reference and it rapidly conjured a mood and an idea. This promo is the Suede world response to that: a grim unseen threat in the deserted streets, a desperate flight into the wastelands, and the ultimate discovery of a joyous and unexpected playground, offering a surprising yet somehow fitting escape."

The Blue Hour was released on September 21. You can read Luke Turner’s review of the album here.
