Films At Stoke Newington Lit Fest

BFI Archive and Saint Etienne films set to be screened on Sunday

There’s a whole host of filmic goodness at this weekend’s Stoke Newington Literary Festival, with three screenings taking place on Sunday, June 9, all at the Council Chambers.

First up is ‘Literary Delights’, where BFI curator Bryony Dixon digs through the archives to find some reels "to showcase the love affair between cinema and literature" – tickets are £5 and the event begins at 3.30pm.

Next up is Paul Kelly and Saint Etienne’s Bob Stanley presenting clips from the band’s forthcoming BFI DVD, A London Trilogy: The Films Of Saint Etienne and discussing their work with Travis Elborough at 5.30pm for £6.

Finally, there’s a one-off screening of Grant Gee’s documentary on W.G. Sebald Patience (After Sebald), set to be followed by a discussion between Iain Sinclair and the film’s co-producer and Whitechapel Gallery film curator Gareth Evans, though this is sadly now sold out.

Head to the Literary Festival’s website to get hold of tickets, and have a watch of the trailer to Saint Etienne’s Finisterre above.
