Star Wars Vinyl Strikes Back

Music from 'A New Hope' and 'Mandalorian' gets special vinyl releases

The presumably large shaded area on the Star Wars fan/record collector Venn diagram will be buzzing with the news of two new soundtrack releases on vinyl this autumn.

Walt Disney Records/UMC have just released a 10" picture disc of Ludwig Göransson’s main theme from The Mandalorian – leading no doubt to many utterances of the Gen Z "I think you’ll find it’s sparkling wine not champagne," namely: "It’s ‘The Child’ not ‘Baby Yoda’, actually."

On October 2, UMC are following that up with the release of the original motion picture soundtrack for Star Wars: A New Hope on double 180g vinyl. The score, composed and conducted by John Williams and played by the London Symphony Orchestra, won the Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Score plus BAFTA for best original music, as well as three Grammys.
