Swift becoming a favourite round these here parts, Australian smoothsters Standish/Carlyon are releasing their debut album Deleted Scenes (artwork above) on May 14, and we’ve got another taster. ‘Subliminally’ is terser than the previous cuts we’ve heard before, ‘Nono/Yoyo’ and ‘Gucci Mountain’, with a lumbering synth bassline reminiscent of Tears For Fears matched to sinister scatterings of drum machines. The lyrical theme, though, remains unchanged, working off a narrative that opens "Polaroids fall in the pool, tropical diseases" before running to the chorus’ "subliminally, it turns me on":
