WATCH: Spectres – Where Flies Sleep

First look at video for Bristol death poppers' new single

Good lord, what’s that deeply satisfying grind? Why, that’d be ‘Where Flies Sleep’, the first single from Sonic Cathedral-signed four-piece Spectres’ debut album, Dying, due out on February 23, and that’s its video above. Visuals of a wind-up snail, an Ouija board and gut-spewing run alongside the track’s You Made Me Realise-era MBV guitars and Joe Hatt’s unerringly detached vocals, all falling back into that mesh of feedback at the end. Go on, have a look.

The band have been going for four years and are now based in Bristol having got together in Devon. Says Hatt of their early experiences: "Forming in Barnstaple was integral to what we are today. When people hated us we just played harder. We want to snap people out of their comfort zones. We want our noise to smack the spoon out of their mouths that is feeding them the warm diarrhoea that is served by start-up PR companies." We’ll have more of this colourful imagery for you when we publish an interview with the band before the album’s release; for the meantime, have a gander at their tour dates below and head to Sonic Cathedral’s shop to pre-order.
