London’s Southbank Centre has revealed details of its Summer Literature Season programme for 2022.
Taking place from May to September, the run of events will see a number of music luminaries getting involved. Among them is Jarvis Cocker, who will launch his new book Good Pop, Bad Pop at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on May 27, when he will be in conversation.
The following week, on June 2, PJ Harvey will recite poems from her new book, Orlam, in the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Orlam is billed as the first full-length book written in the Dorset dialect for many decades, and Harvey will also be joined by poet Paul Muldoon to talk about the book.
On September 15, also in the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Warren Ellis will speak to film critic Mark Kermode about his life and artistic processes as part of an event that will mark the paperback release of his memoir Nina Simone’s Gum: A Memoir Of Things Lost And Found. The book itself includes a story based around the finding of a piece of Simone’s chewing gum on her piano after a performance at the Southbank Centre’s Meltdown festival in 1999.
