Starting next month the Southbank Centre will host a series of club nights in its newly refurbished Queen Elizabeth Hall, with each event set to run until 2am.
The events, being run under the name Concrete Lates, will focus on experimental electronic music with the first edition, scheduled for April 13, will see Pan Daijing, JASSS and Giant Swan all play, with Daijing providing an ambient mix to accompany the art on display at the venue.
The second event is scheduled for April 27 and features composer and turnablist Shiva Feshareki, playing alongside M.E.S.H., E.M.M.A and Coby Sey.
"Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room have always been spaces for audiences to discover and enjoy music that’s cracking open the status quo," said Bengi Unsal, Southbank Centre’s Senior Contemporary Music Programmer, in a press release. "Concrete Lates brings that bang up to date, with a programme of artists who are among the most celebrated and progressive musicians working in experimental electronics today, and giving a platform to incredible and often underrepresented female talent."
The newly refurbished Queen Elizabeth Hall will be opened to the public on April 9 following on from two years of redevelopment work. Tickets for Concrete Lates are on sale to Southbank Centre members now and will go on sale to the general public tomorrow (March 21) via the Southbank Centre’s website.
