SoundCloud Signs Deal With Universal

Licensing deal should put an end to some of SoundCloud's recent problems

SoundCloud has signed a licensing deal with Universal that could put an end to some of their recent troubles.

As The New York Times reports, the deal will allow the streaming platform to host Universal Music Group’s roster on the service, which includes music from Taylor Swift and Kanye West among many others. UMG will take a share of advertising on the service in return and also be granted access to SoundCloud data and analytics tools. This just leaves Sony as the only major label to have not yet signed a licensing deal with SoundCloud.
