SoundCloud DJ Mixes No Longer Subject Of Takedowns

Music streaming platform says that mixes uploaded onto the service will no longer be subject of copyright claims

SoundCloud has said that DJ mixes uploaded to the music streaming platform will no longer be the result of takedowns from copyright infringement.

SoundCloud founder Eric Wahlforss revealed the news in a recent interview saying that the company had made deals with relevant licensing companies, including Germany’s GEMA, in order to ensure that mixes stay online.

Since 2010, some mixes have been taken down if they were found to contain tracks within a database provided to them by rights holders which said people had requested be blocked from the service. Many DJs whose mixes featured copyrighted tracks had their mixes removed and, in some cases, accounts terminated.
