Sote Returns to Diagonal with New LP, ‘Sound System Persepolis’

The album represents a desire to connect sound synthesis to body music, according to the producer

Sote has a new album on the way for Powell’s label, Diagonal.

Spanning five tracks, Sound System Persepolis marks the Iranian producer’s first release for the UK label since 2019’s Parallel Persia LP. Each cut’s title references the audio synthesis language used to make the music, as well as various geographical locations in the artist’s native country.

In a statement about the album, Sote, real name Ata Ebtekar, said: “Often sound design and sound synthesis is very serious academic music. I love a lot of that music, but Sound System Persepolis connects this back to the body. I want the listener to be active with their brain and I want all their organs and limbs to be moving to different rhythms.”

You can preview Sound System Persepolis via the short teaser video below.

This will be Sote’s second full-length release of 2024, following on from the SVBKVLT-issued Ministry Of Tall Tales, which came out in February.

Diagonal will release Sound System Persepolis on July 12, 2024.
