Founded by the platform and label Atrakt Art in 2000, NEXT festival
has hosted a number acts hailing from local and international
experimental music circles in the Slowakian capital. This year’s
four-day edition, held 23 to 26 November will feature Thighpaulsandra,
Will Guthrie, Chris Corsano, Sharif Sehnaoui, Tony Elieh, Thor
Magnusson, Vlad Kreimer, Michaela Antalova and many more.
Before that, NEXT stops at Cafe Oto for a matinée on 15 October. The
evening will feature a collaboration between the Italian
electro-acoustic musician Valerio Tricoli and Danish sound artist Puce
Mary. Also on the bill is the Iranian electronic music producer Sote,
who will perform alongside visual artist Stix. Sote’s abstracted
techno compositions that have appeared Warp records and Opal Tapes
among others, and were featured in last month’s <a
target="out">Quietus feature on electronic music from Theran.
Further set to perform are sound artists Palmovka and Paul Abbot, as
well as improvisatory saxophonist Miro Toth and bass player Tom
Wheatley.
