James Murphy and Soulwax/2ManyDJs’ collaborative soundsystem project Despacio has been confirmed to play alongside Massive Attack, Plastikman and Caribou at this year’s Sónar festival in Barcelona, running from June 12-14. Continuing their intentions to return DJ-ing to its origins with a focus on a "truly eclectic music selection" – aided by their 50,000-watt McIntosh speaker set-up – the group’s performances at the festival will consist of three daily six-hour sessions.
The show will follow their sold-out appearance at Camden’s Roundhouse on March 7 and 8. Stay tuned for an interview with Despacio on the Quietus tomorrow and get hold of tickets at the festival’s website.
