Austrain dark ambient composer Soap&Skin is releasing a new 7", ‘Sugarbread’, on Monday, and we’ve got an exclusive first play of the title track below:
It is, characteristically, a darkly beautiful cut: starting off with distant, distorted screams growing closer in between orchestral punches, a solid beat emerges as Anja Plaschg intones "try to break one’s heart in perpetuity" with a distinctly warped cadence. As if it wasn’t already a masterwork in deftly-deployed maximalism, there’s even a choral section of Latin incantations at the end. In short, bring forth Monday.
