A Smiths reunion is "closer than it ever has been", according to reports in today’s press. Apparently the band may well get back together for Coachella, before playing festivals next summer. Given that the report is from a source in The Sun, you might be advised to hold back on booking those plane tickets.
“It has looked impossible in the past but suddenly it all looks like it could happen," the source told the rag.
“The buzz around the people who used to work for the band is they could play Coachella for a ludicrous amount of money. It’s closer than it ever has been. The split was a messy affair, but time’s a healer.” Ah.
The Sun reckons that Morrissey’s manager Irving Azoff, who used to run MCA Records, is encouraging the star to consider getting back with his old chums for a paycheck that could be in excess of the reputed millions of dollars they were offered to play Coachella back in 2006.
