Sleep: The Carl Sagan Years

New turtleneck-and-NHS-specs look for band may signal news of forthcoming material

Stoner metal legends Sleep have released a relatively unusual promo photograph which pictures them dressed as 1970s astronomers rather than their usual attire of denim, leather and liquorice flavoured Rizlas.

This fabulous photograph was brought to our attention by vibrant guitarist and record label boss Stephen O’Malley and is hosted at Weedian.com, the Sleep website.

We can only hope this bizarre sight means that Sleep are about to announce news and that Matt Pike’s recuperation from recent troubles is carrying on apace.

Rumours that Sleep are working on a series of new albums De Mysteriis Dom Sagan, A Blaze In The Northern Sky At Night, and If You See Your Mom This Weekend Be Sure And Tell Her, ‘We’re dressed as Sagan! Sagan! Sagan!’ are unconfirmed as we go to press.
