Woah! Slayer have just posted a brand new track, ‘Implode’, on their website – get hold of it in exchange for an e-mail address here. It’s the band’s first new material in five years, since 2009’s World Painted Blood, and marks not only the news that the band will be going into the studio to record that album’s follow-up later this year, but the creation of their own label, through which they’ll be releasing it. The as-yet-unnamed imprint will be part of Nuclear Blast, bringing to a close Slayer’s signing to Rick Rubin’s American Recordings label. Says the band’s singer and bassist Tom Araya: "Rick has played a huge role in our career, we’ve made some great albums with him. But today is a new day, record companies don’t play the kind of role they once did, and we really like the idea of going out on our own, connecting directly with our fans, and Nuclear Blast is fired up about taking on that challenge with us."
Head to the band’s website to take a look at their upcoming U.S. and European tour dates, including a stop at Sonisphere on July 5.
