Sigur Ros have revealed that they are to release a new studio album next spring. The new album will be their first since 2008’s Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust. It arrives in addition to their live album and concert film Inni, which was released recently. You can watch a clip from the film here.
While describing the new album, the blissed out Icelandic troubadours revealed a surprising shift in creative direction, describing the new album as "introverted", "floaty and minimal", "ambient" and a "slow take-off toward something".
The Wall Street Journal goes on to state that "for a visitor who heard a preliminary recording in which Mr. Birgisson’s falsetto was surrounded by rich choral voices and what sounded like a pipe organ, the music was thrilling."
