The Golden Cabinet collective are hosting Shit And Shine at the Kirkgate Centre in Shipley on August 2 in one of their only UK dates this year, with support from Dwellings and Cattle.
Shit And Shine are known for creating a tumultuous cacophony at their live shows, often aided by multiple drummers, and the promoters are inviting you to, "come and witness them (nearly) destroying Golden Cabinet and all who sail in her". The band have released their bonkers blend of noise, drone and punk most recently on the fledgling Gangsigns label and on Powell’s Diagonal imprint.
Chris Haslam of Gnod brings the stark drones of his solo project Dwellings in support – expect the usual atmospheric analogue electronics associated with anything linked to the Salford-based group. Also on the bill are the chaotic noise-rock group Cattle – "the aural equivalent of a runaway bulldozer" – who promise to keep things brutal throughout. Head to Golden Cabinet’s website for tickets, which are £6.50, with the show definitely ending in time for the last trains to Leeds and Bradford, and take a look at their promo video for the show featuring Shit And Shine’s ‘Shower Curtain’ (look carefully and you’ll see one of the Golden Cabinet promoters’ mums in the background).
