Shirley Collins is among the first set of acts announced for a brand new festival, called Safe As Milk, which will be held in North Wales in April of next year.
Collins’ appearance at the festival marks a rare live outing and will come off the back of her soon-to-be-released new album, her first in 38 years. Also announced today are Omar Souleyman, The Residents, OOIOO and This Is Not This Heat, the live reincarnation of This Heat founded earlier this year which features original members of the band alongside very special guests.
Announced today too are Brainbombs, Dopplereffekt, Islam Chipsy & EEK, Hieroglyphic Being, Nurse With Wound, Grouper and Horse Lords. The festival itself is named after Captain Beefheart’s 1967 debut album. In addition to a very impressive line-up as already evidenced above, film screenings, record fairs and various exhibitions are also promised on site.
It will all take place in Prestatyn from April 21-23. Tickets go on sale, for the price of £139 which includes accommodation, from October 31 (this Monday). The festival is being put together by the team behind Gateshead’s excellent TUSK Festival. You can find more details here.
