SHAPE, the EU-supported arts programme backing 48 musicians each year to play at festivals and other gigs, will host a showcase at this year’s edition of Nyege Nyege festival in Uganda.
The likes of Nkisi, JASSS, Bonaventure, Giant Swan, Yameneko and more will play the festival as part of SHAPE’s showcase, with 13 acts lined up to play in total.
SHAPE, short for ‘Sound, Heterogenous Art and Performance in Europe’ invites the artists selected as part of the initiative each year to play at different members festivals. There are 16 festivals partaking in the initiative which will run for seven years with the support of the European Union.
Also lined up to play elsewhere at Nyege Nyege festival are Jlin, Errorsmith, Rian Treanor, Julianna Huxtable, FAKA, Modern Institute and many more. It takes place in Jinja, Uganda from September 6-9. For more information on the festival, head here. For more information on SHAPE, click here.
