Seattle hip hop collective Shabazz Palaces are releasing their second album Lese Majesty on July 28 via Sub Pop. The group have described the record as a notable progression from their first full-length, 2011’s Black Up, one which takes the form of "a seven-suite, 18-track treasure trove of interplanetary transmissions and new black wave". In an excellent post on the label’s website, the group add: "[It’s a] unique and glorified offering into our ever-uniforming musical soundscape. Lese Majesty is a beatific war cry, born of a spell, acknowledging that sophistication and the instinctual are not at odds; indeed an undoing of the lie of their disparate natures."
They’ve given us another taster (there are four other tracks on the Sub Pop page) of what to expect today with ‘#CAKE’, from ‘Suite 4: Pleasure Milieu’ – stream that above.
