Australian post-punk experimentalists Severed Head, whose name was selected as a droll ploy to gain them more radio play, are to re-serve two of their most beloved LPs, Since The Accident and City Slab Horror, this June. The former LP, originally released in 1983 via Virgin affiliate Ink Records, is said to be the industrial duo’s most hunted-down record, featuring their biggest hit, the skipping ecstasy of (and one of tQ’s own Luke Turner’s favourite tunes – hear below) ‘Dead Eyes Opened’. Two years later they ran with their more accessible leanings on City Slab Horrors, turning out as it did their most AM-friendly ditties.
To this day the band have stuck to their self-contained roots, with one half of the outfit, Tom Ellard, remastering all the material himself. The albums, which will be cut with heavy-duty 180gm vinyl, will come with bonus inserts created by Ellard featuring “ephemera of the time”.
