San Francisco-based label Dark Entries has confirmed plans to reissue Severed Heads’ 1981 album, Clean.
The re-release will mark the first time the album has been made available on vinyl since its original release, with the 1981 edition having become highly sought after on the resale market in recent years.
Clean was Severed Heads’ first full album release, following on from a run of limited cassettes, and offers an insight into the Australian group’s rawer early sound before their turn towards the synth-pop material they came to be known for. You can hear snippets of the record above.
Dark Entries’ reissue will feature some bonus material in addition to the full, remastered original album, including live performances and tracks from the Side 3 cassette as well as a demo tape that came to light last year according to the label.
25% of all proceeds from sales of the Clean reissue will be donated to the Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities in Australia in the wake of recent bushfires.
Dark Entries’ reissue of Clean is out on January 24. It follows a number of reissues of Severed Heads material on the label including their 1985 album Clifford Darling, Please Don’t Live In The Past and 1986’s The Big Bigot.
