Senyawa Return With New Album, ‘Vajranala’

The follow-up to 2021's 'Alkisah' is out in May

Senyawa have shared details of a new studio album, titled Vajranala.

Featuring six tracks, the record, a press release says, explores how, over centuries, the natural world has shaped our society, and the knowledge systems from which power derives. It marks the Indonesian duo’s first full-length album since 2021’s Alkisah. To mark the announcement, they’ve shared a video for the new album’s title track, which you can watch above.

In a statement about Vajranala, Senyawa vocalist Rully Shabara said that when it comes to power, "people will normally think of someone political, but I don’t think that’s the case. The origin of power goes deeper than that. If you’re in a village, if you’re considered to have the knowledge to connect people with the realm of the gods, then you will have power before the leader. It’s very fundamental to explore this."

The state51 Conspiracy will release Vajranala on May 3, 2024.
