Sarah Davachi has shared details of her first album in two years, The Head As Form’d In The Crier’s Choir.
The double-LP is comprised of seven pieces of music written by Davachi between 2022 and 2024. The work featured is said to be influenced by the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus via references to Rainer Maria Riike’s 1922 collection of poems Sonnets To Orpheus, and Claudio Monteverdi’s 1607 baroque opera L’Orfeo.
The album is preceded by lead cut ‘Possente Spirto’, which makes use of strings and brass, and is based on loose conceptual references to ‘Possente spirto, e formidabil nume’, from L’Orfeo. You can listen to the new track below.
Late Music will release The Head As Form’d In The Crier’s Choir on September 13, 2024.
