LISTEN: Samuel Kerridge & Taylor Burch LP

Samuel Kerridge shares a full stream of his new album with DVA Damas' Taylor Burch

Samuel Kerridge will tomorrow release a brand new album alongside Taylor Burch of DVA Damas.

Titled The Other, the album sees Burch add spoken word vocals over Kerridge’s darkly melodic instrumentals, and it’s streaming in full above ahead of tomorrow’s release.

The music, Kerridge says, was built around Burch’s vocals from the start of the project. "We went back and forth a few times to record new vocal scenes but the two parts were cohesive," he says, adding that the vocals form a central part of the record as a whole.

The album also comes with an audiovisual concept devised by London-based film director Daisy Dickinson, which will be presented in a live setting. Together, the trio have put together a visual, speech and sound-based piece which, as Kerridge explains, "takes on as much importance as the music and narrative."

He continues: "On stage huge pieces of fabric will drape from the ceiling, set at different depths, immersing the stage in light. So far the show is confirmed to be presented at The Lowry Theatre, Manchester in September, and at fabric, London in October."

The Other marks the first time Kerridge and Burch have worked together on record, and is set for release via Regis’ Downwards label.
