Rupert Clervaux has unveiled his new project under the moniker CVX, a series entitled Zibaldone.
Named after the notebooks of Italian poet Giacomo Leopardi, you can hear the first part of the series of releases above, ‘Zibaldone I of CVX’, which features poetry readings by Mara Cimatoribus, Anne Tetzlaf and Clervaux himself over lush, ambient soundscapes, as well as two percussive tracks.
‘Zibaldone II’ is also streaming now, a forceful concoction of fragmented beats, eruptive instrumentation and samples. It’s set for an official release this Friday, February 10.
The work is being released by Laura Lies In as a donation download, and later this year as a limited edition, pre-order only dubplate, each with unique artwork by Coline Cornélis. All proceeds go to mental health charity MIND.
Clervaux is hosting an album release party on February 16 at London’s Servant Jazz Quarters. Entrance is free but attendees are invited to make a small donation to MIND. You can find out more here
