Rui Ho To Release Debut Album On Planet Mu

'Lov3 & L1ght' comes off the back of releases through Objects Ltd and Chinese collective Genome6.66Mbp

Rui Ho is releasing her debut album on Planet Mu.

Lov3 & L1ght comprises 10 tracks and sees the Berlin-based Chinese producer sing for the first time on her productions. You can hear the album’s lead track, ‘Exodus ’12’, just below.

The track is a direct reference to Japanese-American R&B star Utada Hikaru’s 2004 album Exodus and her single ‘Exodus ’04’. "It marks the year I left China in 2012," Rui Ho says, adding that "it’s about departure from my hometown, making it in a foreign land and trying to reconnect with my roots."

Speaking about the album as a whole she says: "I have always been interested in singing but my voice has been a huge obstacle for me since I always wanted a high pitched female voice instead of a deep, low male voice," Rui Ho says. "Vocal feminisation during my transition has been a huge inspiration and it’s a hidden theme of the album too. I hope to learn to love my own voice and be able to find ways to express myself with the voice that I have, without having to fear it. It’s a process of self love, I guess."

Planet Mu will release Lov3 & L1ght on September 4, 2020.
