Other bands may as well give up now. Rock supergroup Chickenfoot have arrived and they mean business.
Van Halen legends Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer Chad Smith and renowned guitarist Joe Satriani comprise the band with the poultry inspired moniker, and have already enjoyed chart success with their debut eponymous album entering the charts at number four.
Chickenfoot came into being when Smith joined Hagar and Anthony at a jam session in a club in Mexico. Smith suggested forming a group, and Satriani was invited to complete the line-up.
Hagar said: "We called ourselves Chickenfoot as a kind of a joke, and people started digging it, and so Chad’s going, ‘Let’s start a real band.
"Joe had a band called the Squares — all of a sudden Chickenfoot sounded like a really good name."
He added: ""We’re a new band, even though we’ve got names, we’ve all been in other bands.
"So we have to kind of let the world know who Chickenfoot is, I think."
