Robyn Rocket, space trumpet musician and the person behind much-loved inclusive conscious gigs ‘Robyn’s Rocket’ at Cafe OTO, is crowdfunding for a vinyl release of her latest project.
Under the title of Robyn Rocket And People You May Have Heard Of, the shapeshifting band has featured the likes of Charles Hayward, Alabaster DePlume, as well as musicians involved with the learning disability and autism arts scene via the charity Heart N Soul, such as Dean Rodney Jnr. Like the live Robyn’s Rocket nights, it connects audiences and performers with and without learning disabilities, and autistic and non-autistic people.
The EPs were made over three days, in three studios with and with three different groups of musicians who hadn’t prepared beforehand, representing three musical communities that Robyn is a part of – Cafe OTO, Total Refreshment Centre, and Heart N Soul.
They have released four EPs so far this year, with a fifth due in November. The most recent entry, Connection, featured in tQ’s best of the month roundup for September. The planned vinyl release will take in all five EPs.
Having reached an initial goal to press the EPs to vinyl, Robyn is now aiming to use any additional funds raised to pay for a PR campaign along with it. You can donate here.
