RoboCop Comes To Dalston!

Cigarette Burns screening 1987 classic at Rio on Saturday

The mutant brainchild of tQ scribe Josh Saco, Cigarette Burns Cinema is dedicated to ‘returning forgotten and obscure cult classics to the cinema screens of London’. In 2011 alone CBC organised rare communal outings for the likes of Street Trash, Who Can Kill A Child? and the Female Convict Scorpion trilogy.

This year’s programme kicks off on Saturday January 21 at the Rio in Dalston with a better known (though no less choice) selection: Paul Verhoeven’s trigger-happy sci-fi satire RoboCop, which is now celebrating its 25th anniversary. Man-machine justice will commence at 11.30pm, with the main feature bookended by celluoid-appropriate DJ sets courtesy of the Flashback Records crew and a memorabilia stall run by Psychotronic Movies. Tickets are £7.50 with the added lure of a late bar.

Watch a bespoke trailer for the event below, and be sure to check the Cigarette Burns website for future filmic treats. You have 20 seconds to comply…
