Robert Hood And Femi Kuti Collaborate On New EP

'Variations' was recorded live in Paris during a performance for French TV in November 2019

Robert Hood and Femi Kuti are putting out a collaborative record via the former’s label, M-Plant.

Split into seven parts that span 30 minutes in total, the recordings on Variations were captured in Paris in November 2019 during a joint performance by Hood and Kuti. Set up to celebrate the life of James Brown, the live collaboration was aired on the French TV series La Compagnie des Indes & Sourdoreille, with Hood taking care of synths and drum machines, while Kuti played saxophone. You can listen to the near-nine-minute opening cut just below.

M-Plant will release Variations on December 8, 2023.
