Vladislav Delay Details New Ripatti LP, ‘Fun Is Not A Straight Line’

The Finnish producer's latest project takes cues from footwork and hip hop

Sasu Ripatti, the producer otherwise known as Vladislav Delay, has shared details of a new album for Planet Mu as Ripatti.

Due out in June, Fun Is Not A Straight Line finds Ripatti drawing on footwork rhythms and hip hop samples, having grown "frustrated by the inflexibility of the 4/4 house idiom," a press release explains.

"I bought Nas’ Illmatic when it came out in ’94 and have more or less been listening to rap since," Ripatti says of his love of the genre. "I’m not really sure why now, but that rap influence wanted to come through."

Fun Is Not A Straight Line follows on from the announcement last month of Rakka II, an album under Ripatti’s Vladislav Delay moniker.

Planet Mu will release Fun Is Not A Straight Line on June 25, 2021.
