Those who get their kicks from exploring new developments in modern classical, avant-garde and electronica could do a lot worse than visit REWIRE Festival in The Hague, Netherlands. REWIRE has done a sterling job in programming adventurous and forward-thinking music over recent years, and it seems that the 2015 edition – held this year from May 1-2 – is no different. The Hague will, for two nights at least, shed its straight-laced and respectable reputation and host a veritable cornucopia of left-field fun, replete with gigs in old power plants and churches. And the line-up is an urban aesthete’s dream, with special shows from Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Holly Herndon, The Bug, Alessandro Cortini, Grouper, Jenny Hval and Susanna, Pearson Sound and TCF, just some of the names in a very impressive list. UPDATE – March 26: Neneh Cherry has now been added to the line-up as well.
Full line-up details can be found here, while you can snap up some hotel packages too, details of which are here, and watch a mini-documentary about last year’s festival above.
