LISTEN: New Real Lies Banger ‘The Checks’

Real Lies return with a self-released new single which sounds like a snotty-nosed Underworld drinking cans with its mates down the park

Real Lies have returned with a new track released today on their own Unreal label and what sounds like a new direction; you can listen above.

The band claim the new track is "less Pet Shop Boys, more British Murder Boys”, to which we’d add that it’s also more Underworld and Vince Clarke remixing the Happy Mondays than Bass-o-matic.

“The Checks is a list of questions arriving in a mind that knows it should be leaving,” explained lyricist

Kev Kharas, who forms Real Lies alongside Tom Watson and Patrick King. “It was written on

the streets of London on a hot summer’s night that was as lonely as it was euphoric.”

The band are launching their new Unreal club night in Dalston on June 15 and have other releases scheduled for later this year.
