Rare Yamaha Synth Once Owned by Aphex Twin Placed for Auction

The Yamaha GX-1 synth is one of only 100 models in the world and is currently listed for £99,500

A rare Yamaha GX-1 synth once owned by Aphex Twin has been placed up for auction.

The item is one of only 100 models made and is currently listed by auction site VEMIA for £99,500. Aphex Twin, real name Richard D. James, purchased the item from British producer Mickie Most and named a 2007 track under his The Tuss alias, ‘GX-1 Solo’, after the synth.

The item, which includes a bench, two speakers and programmers, is currently owned by Berlin-based synth maker Colin Fraser, who modified the synth to include full MIDI control and various other add-ons. All of its original components also remain fully intact with full cabling.
