Earlier this month, experimental, lo-fi rock auteurs The Dead C and Rangda united for a split vinyl-only LP (artwork above) on Ba Da Bing Records.
Comprised of hitherto archived material from the former and exclusive cuts from the latter, both groups have been a mainstay of the experimental rock scenes, with Rangda performing at last year’s Supersonic Festival – have a listen to The Dead C’s ‘EUSA Kills’ from the record below:
With both groups formed around a core of two guitarists and single drummer (Bruce Russell, Michael Morley and Robbie Yeats for The Dead C, Ben Chasny, Richard Bishop and Chris Corsano for Rangda), the release is centred around lo-fi guitar excursions, buoyed by a strongly improvisational dynamic. Needless to say the record is testament to their respective talents, a body of work that is as challenging as it is captivating- fraught with tumultuous percussion and discordant guitars yet still managing to draw these disparate elements into a cohesive whole.
